Paddle Now. Chores Later.

canoe imageJoin us on Wednesday, September 25 at 7pm as PBS-featured author and life-long Michigan resident Doc Fletcher presents his hour-long 2013 canoeing and kayaking program, “Paddle Now. Chores Later”. Among the rivers featured will be the Pere Marquette, the subject of Doc’s new book (Apr 2013 publication by Arbutus Press). The program will also focus on the U.P.’s Two Hearted River, a gorgeous stream that flows into Lake Superior, and how it was impacted by – and is recovering from – the 3rd largest fire in Michigan’s history (occurred May 2012).

You don’t have to be a paddling enthusiast to enjoy the program, but you may become
one by the time the evening ends.

At the end of Doc’s time with us, a free drawing will be held and one person will win a gift certificate good for a free canoe or kayak day trip. The use of the boats and drop-offs/pick-ups are donated by liveries (canoe/kayak rentals) in towns across Michigan. The trip winner will be drawn at random from the other half of tickets handed out to attendees as they arrive for the program. Canoe/kayak livery brochures and state maps will be made available to assist program attendees in planning river trips. For those interested, Doc will sign and sell copies of his 5 published books on canoeing and kayaking in Michigan and Wisconsin. You don’t have to be a paddling enthusiast to enjoy the program, but you may become one by the time the evening ends
