geek of the week: Gary Seguin

Gary Seguin, President, Manchester District Library Board of Trustees

Gary claims to geek smoked pork because it tastes good. We know he geeks good humor even more. Kept in a location of mystery, the quirky boar’s head was acquired locally via “Free to a Good Home” signage and provides Gary with amusing tales.

When looking for something in particular, Gary heads to the library first. He also likes to browse the collection. Mysteries, economics, and cookbooks comprise Gary’s favorite reads. His number one favorite book is a collection of short stories: The Acid House by Irvine Welsh.

To me, this is just sad, representative of our violent culture, and reminiscent of the “old days” when human heads were put on spikes. The boar was a living, feeling individual who didn’t deserve his death or this mockery. I hope you can find it in your hearts to extend compassion to ALL this holiday season, and always.
