Catalog Upgrade

You may have noticed that the library’s on-line catalog had a little facelift recently. In addition to a cleaner layout, there are a few useful new features that you might find helpful.

First – Vacation Holds!

If you’re leaving for vacation and need to keep holds from coming in for a week or two, or want to control how many items you’re getting at a time, you can now do so within “My Account.”

Log in using your library card number and PIN, click “Renew Materials and Review My Account,” then “Holds”, and select which items you’d like to place on suspension. Then scroll to the bottom of the screen, where you can enter the dates to begin and end the suspension.

When done entering dates, click “Suspend Selected”. That’s it! Your hold list will pause on the designated date, then automatically become active again at the end of the suspension period.

Second – Bookmarks!

In the past the catalog wasn’t set up to allow bookmarking of individual pages. That’s changed! You can now bookmark any page you’d like — from the home page to the page of a book you’re thinking about placing a hold on. You can even bookmark a list of search results, like this list for “The Wheel of Time” series.

Third – Organizing Within My Account

When you view the list of items you have checked out (again, log in at My Account), you can now sort them by title, author, or due date — nice if you have several items on the list and want to make sure you’re renewing or returning things on time.

Those are the three biggest improvements to the catalog with the recent update. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions for improvement, feel free to mention them to staff or to email me (Heather Sturm) at hsturm (at)
